Enjoying the American Polish Festival
One of the anticipated ethnic summer festivals in Detroit is the American Polish Festival. Did you know that Polish Americans are the second largest ethnic group in Michigan? According to the 2000 U.S. Census, Michigan is home to the third largest Polish population after New York & Illinois. With this many Poles living here, you have to put on a big festival.
American Polish Festival & Craft Show
This year, the festival is on July 7-9th, 2017 at the American Polish Century Club in Sterling Heights (33204 Maple Lane). It is three days of fantastic Polish food, a Pierogi eating contest (oops! ignore the spelling in the pics), Polka music, folk dances, beer tent, and Polish wearables & crafts for sale. I highly recommend going and experiencing the festival. Even if you aren’t Polish, this is a fabulous family fun event. There are rides for the kids to keep them entertained while the adults can enjoy some Polish adult beverages. And plenty of Polish food and desserts to try and even bring home for later. I picked up some great T-shirts there. My favorite is “You bet your sweet Dupa I’m Polish!” There is also free parking and shuttles available at the festival. So no excuse for missing this fun event!
