Saying Farewell to Disney IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth

One of my favorite places to travel to is to Disney’s Epcot. I can’t remember how many times I have visited Epcot since it opened back in 1982. And the highlight of every evening stomping around the world in Epcot is Disney IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth nighttime extravaganza. Unfortunately, this fabulous fireworks and laser show is ending its 20-year run on September 30, 2019. Illuminations fire displayIlluminations Fireworks and Fire Display

Disney Illuminations is a firework, laser, and light show that goes on every night at 9 p.m. weather permitting in the World Showcase Lagoon. I have had some amazing times with my family watching this show with its message of hope and showcasing the history of our planet. The highlight of the show is the Earth Globe with its spherical video display system that displays the continents by LED screens that change throughout the 14-minute show along with great music. Where to Watch the ShowIlluminations Earth Globe and fireworks shooting everywhere

There are so many places to watch the show around the Lagoon it might be hard to pick the best. A good thing to know is if you want a front row viewing, you do have to pick your spot early (sometimes 90-minutes early). Some of the best viewing areas are on the bridge between the UK and France pavilions, Italy, Between the Norway and Mexico pavilions, World Showcase Plaza, on the outdoor terrace at Tokyo Dining, Mexico Pavilions, La Cantina de San Angel at the Mexico pavilion, Canada pavilion, and the Rose & Crown Dining Room. Wherever you do pick to watch this amazing show, make sure your view is unobstructed by trees for the best firework viewing. The FinaleDisney Illuminations Earth Globe opening up

Even though IllumiNations is a short show, it does make an impact. Especially at the end when the Earth Globe opens up and sets up for the big firework finale. The original IllumiNations show back in 1988 was the first time that Disney used technology that allowed the launching of fireworks to be programmed with music cues. And for the last 20-years, it has remained relatively unchanged. Saying Goodbye

If you are heading to Disney World this summer make sure to set aside at least one evening to watch Disney IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot. The last show will be on September 30th to be followed by a new temporary show called Epcot Forever. Disney IllumiNations is the perfect ending to a great day at Epcot in Walt Disney World. And it has had a fabulous run for a firework and laser extravaganza. You don’t want to be the one who missed seeing this great show before it is gone forever. Illuminations fireworks explosion
